I have hundreds of photos on my computer. Actually, I have thousands. I have 21,000 from 2004 onwards. I try to keep them under control. It’s so easy to just take 10 photos and then not delete any of them, but I DO delete them. My problem is that I have three young people in my household who seem to be able to take 20 photos of each second and then don’t delete any of them. So every now and then, I go through their photos and delete away. I sometimes find things out that I wouldn’t have otherwise.
I remember the first time I had photos from a camera that the kids had exclusively used. It was when we’d been on holidays, our Northern Territory trip in 2006. It was almost special to go though photos that the girls, mainly Samantha, had taken. The moments she thought were special enough to record: the different angles that she used. I ended up printing quite a number of her images – because they were different and they were important to her. I think I must be over that now!!! But I am very grateful that I get the opportunity to see the world through the eyes of high school aged girls. I think that’s why I’ve enjoyed the holidays we’ve been on with the kids. I get to travel as if I’m young again (yes, I know I’m not, but it’s in the organisation). I try and see the world as they would - and it enhances the experience. Maybe it's also about making sure that I don't get 'old' in my mind!
