Table Settings

I've already established that I am not a "neat freak".  Sometimes I wish I was.  I'm not a completely messy person either.  I do like things to look nice.  I especially like seeing a beautifully set dinner table (both with and without food!).  I think it adds to the dining experience.  The other day Ian ended up setting the table.  I don't think he's done it often enough.  The photo below tells the story!  (And just to clarify, it wasn't me who took this photo.  When Sam saw the table she laughed and said it was a pathetic effort and she had to take a photo of it.)

I am grateful that I have a table (tables!) that I can set nicely for  my meal.  I'm grateful that I live in a country where three meals a day is a way of life and there is always plenty of food (too much food).  I think we often take this for granted.  I'm spending the next two days preparing for a special party.  I"m still concerned that there won't be enough food, but I've purchased much more than is required.  I'm worried about making sure the food lasts the afternoon when, in other parts of the world, people are worried about where there next meal will come from.  So in the quiet of the morning, I'll just say how grateful I am that I regularly have three meals a day and my concern over meals is that the table looks nice.
