Endorphins

Wikipedia (one of my favourite web-sites - even though I don't trust anything on it) says that "endorphins are endogenous opioid peptides that function as neurotransmitters.  They are produced by the pituitary gland and the hypothalamus in vertebrates during exercise, excitement, pain, consumption of spicy food" (really!!), "love and orgasm, and they resemble the opiates in their abilities to produce analgesia and a feeling of well-being".   I love endorphins!  I love that feeling.  It's why I enjoy exercise.  Maybe there are a whole lot of other things that I didn't realise I enjoyed because of the endorphins...  Interesting thought.  Anyway, today I used our new toy (an elliptical walker)  and it was fantastic to have a good piece of exercise equipment in the house to use as late as I wanted and to watch a show of my choice whilst I do so (I watched two episodes of The Big Bang Theory)!!   Plus I have no leg pain afterwards.  It's all very satisfying.   So I'm grateful that I can experience endorphins.   And now my kids are laughing at me - all because I stated that "this machine is going to change my life" after I finished!  But at least they know about endorphins now
