Guarded Beaches

We had such a fun day! Byron Bay is a beautiful area.

Today I went for my first swim in the ocean for this summer. It was very pleasant as you'd expect. There weren't that many people swimming because it had just started pouring as we entered the water. Funnily enough it doesn't really matter if it's raining when you are swimming. We were also a bit surprised about the rip where we were swimming as normally the flags aren't put in places where there are rips. The amount of people swimming outside of the flags was amazing as well! There have been quite a number of deaths in NSW beaches this summer and I would have thought that people were more careful. Anyway, both Ian and I felt perfectly safe and had no concerns for the kids either. There is something very reassuring about swimming in a guarded beach. I'm grateful that lifeguards are in place at popular beaches!

After dinner we went for a walk along Tallows Beach - which is very open and NOT guarded. It was gorgeous. We got to see all the crabs crawling around - so cute. There is something about deserted beaches as well!
